Primarily engaged in producing installations. Umeda’s works are often interpreted in terms of architecture and music, and he intentionally begins working without preconceived plans for their outcome. Recent exhibitions include the Sapporo International Art Festival 2017 and the Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival (Taichung, 2018). Solo exhibitions include “See, Look at Observed what Watching is” (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Portland, 2016). Performanes include “COMPOSITE: VARIATIONS” (Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2017, Brussels) and “INTERNSHIP” (Asia Cultural Center, Gwangju, 2016 / TPAM 2018, KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre).
